Our Team


Ayana Monroe

Ayana Monroe is a Senior at Long Reach High School. From a young age, she has had a passion for improving the way humans and machines interact. At her school, Ayana is very involved as the leader of the Society of Women Engineers, Hack Club President, NTHS, and Delta Scholars. Outside of school she works with the Maryland Center for Women in Computing, the World Computer Exchange, the student-run nonprofit codeHER as the Chief Operations Officer, and the HCASC STEM Committee as Chairwoman. In her spare time, Ayana enjoys playing volleyball, singing, drinking bubble tea, and appreciating art.


Nick Pavlosky

Nick Pavlosky is a Junior at River Hill High School. He has a strong passion in many areas of STEM, especially biology and chemistry, and is currently enrolled in the Biotechnology Career Academy in Howard County. In the future, he hopes to pursue a career in biochemical engineering. He is heavily involved in school and participates in activities ranging from biology and programming clubs to service organizations to track and field. In his free time he loves exercising, coding, recreational sports, and hanging out with friends.


Jessica Strongin

Jessica Strongin is a Senior at River Hill High School. She was always curious about the interdisciplinary nature of science, especially in the fields of chemistry and mathematics. She has completed research into supervised machine learning for big data analytics and infrared trace detection at the Applied Physics Lab. Jessica wants to pursue a career in either chemical engineering or statistics and economics. Outside of school, Jessica is an awarded pianist who accompanies choirs and assists young musicians with music theory. In her spare time, Jessica loves to play tennis, read, and spend time with her two-year-old niece.

Audrey Lin

Audrey Lin is a senior at Glenelg High School. With a passion for medicine and biomedical improvements, Audrey hopes to pursue a career in regenerative biology and cardiology. She has conducted research in cardiac surgery and cardiac regeneration and interns at Premier Health Express Urgent Care and UMMC. Audrey is the founder of the USABO Glenelg chapter. When not in school, Audrey is an awarded percussionist who wants to continue pursuing her love of music. During her spare time, she loves to cook, travel, spend time with friends, and exercise.


Alena Shen

Alena Shen is a Junior at River Hill High School. With her passion for STEM and medicine, she hopes to become a physician in the future. Currently, Alena serves as the Public Relations Officer of River Hill Science Olympiad and is conducting research at Johns Hopkins Medical Institute. Alena is also an active community member, serving as Co-President of River Hill’s Man in the Mirror, a member of the River Hill Community and HC Drug Free Teen Advisory Committee. Alena is a dedicated artist and musician, and she uses her talents in the community through her presidency of STAMP (Serving Through Art and Music Projects). During her spare time, Alena loves yoga, pilates, baking, and spending time with her friends.


Subhatra Sivam

Subhatra Sivam is a Senior at Glenelg High School who has a sincere passion for STEM. She has taken all sorts of science courses at her school, including AP level Chemistry, Environmental Science, and Physics (Mechanics as well as Electricity & Magnetism). She has also held various internships, which includes working at the Howard County Conservancy, the National Aquarium, and Johns Hopkins' Applied Physics Lab.

Sanketh Andhavarapu

Sanketh Andhavarapu is a Senior at Mount Hebron High School. Sanketh loves to share his passion for STEM and learning, as he serves as the Chief Human Resources Officer for TeCanal and runs a charitable not-for-profit tutoring platform. At his school, he is the President of the Science Olympiad Team and Health Occupations Students of America Club, and the Vice President of Science National Honor Society. Sanketh is committed to a future in medicine. He is actively involved in the research world as a published neurology research assistant at the UMD School of Medicine and a research intern at the UMB Division of Transplant Surgery, and enjoys volunteering at the UMD Shock Trauma.


Saniya Purohit

Saniya Purohit is a Senior at Mount Hebron High School. She has a growing passion for science and is fascinated by how rapidly things are progressing in the field. She is an active participant in her school’s Model United Nations Team and Future Business Leaders of America chapter. Additionally, she is the President of South Asian Club, as well the Chief of Human Resources for codeHER, a student-run nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing the tech gender-gap and empowering women through computer science. Saniya hopes to pursue a future in business and technology, through which she wants to create a positive social impact. During her spare time, she loves to travel all around the world, hike, watch movies, and read.


Dharshan Varia

Dharshan Varia is a Junior at Mount Hebron High School. Dharshan is interested in medicine and its role in public health and politics. He serves as Co-President of Hebron’s Science Olympiad Team, Neuroscience, and Vice President of Red Cross Club. He also serves as the Secretary for the United States IYNA Network and volunteers at St. Agnes Hospital. He is interested in neuroscience and is a research intern at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine Glowatzki Hearing Loss Lab. In his spare time, Dharshan enjoys tennis, cuisine, and politics. In the future, he hopes to pursue medicine with a career in medicine with a focus on public health.
